Kitchens need to be functional and any decor needs to be purposeful for your everyday use. We are big fans of making sure you are maximizing your workspace while creating a kitchen that is not sterile to the eye. A kitchen is the heart of your home and where you typically spend much of your time. With that being said we don’t want to leave your kitchen space feeling cluttered. There needs to be this simple balance between making sure everything has a spot and accessorizing or styling your kitchen counters to function!
This is hands down my favorite thing to use in a kitchen space. I love to layer in different sized and shaped cutting boards. They are the perfect height, cover up outlets you might not want to see and add warmth to your kitchen space. Plus, if you really need one they are close by. Here’s some solid options!
Art is a fun way to style your kitchen. Sometimes this one doesn’t make it on to the counter but in the open shelving you might have or in glass front cabinets. However, we love using small art in larger kitchen spaces to add a bit of personality personality!
Plants add so much life to a kitchen space. We are big fans of using fresh herbs. There is something about adding life to your space that just makes it happier. Not sure you can keep a real plant alive, no worries there are so many great faux plants out there that will do the trick, here’s some of our favorites!
Pro Tip: Get yourself an insect trap because those plants (and fresh produce) will attract them. We have these and they are awesome
A lamp on your countertop? Sounds kinda funky right? But we promise this is a trend that is so fun, warm and inviting into your space. Not to mention it adds light, which turns out to be a great thing in a kitchen space!
If you’ve got the budget we recommend splurging on some statement appliances! Whether large or small appliances, design aesthetic is absolutely something to consider.
We love bringing the outdoors in. Seasonal flowers are a great way to do this. You can simply use a vase you love and swap out the florals weekly. If that feels like too much for you there are so many great faux options out there that you can keep for the season and switch out the next season!
This one is so easy and yet healthy too! We love to use real fruit on your counters. Think apples, oranges, lemons, bananas and oh so much more! By keeping fruit out on your counter maybe you’ll snack on this too! But like we suggested above, get yourself an insect trap!
I am not going to lie, I am a sucker for a good cook book. There is something about flipping through the pages and looking at all the delicious food I could actually make! Now, mine might not turn out that great looking but I know it will taste that good. I also love styling with cookbooks. From leaving them on shelves and countertops to opening them up and displaying them! Not to mention this is a truly functional design element! Here’s a few we love.
Let’s stick with another functional design element that helps with styling your kitchen. We love having kitchen utensils out and available for use. For us that means we need to find stylish holders to display them in.
This is such a fun way to add color to your kitchen. You can hang them on your dishwasher, stove, leave them by the sink or on the counter!
Store your food and decorate at the same time! What’s not to love about that? Pretty decanters are worth the investment in our minds.
We all use them. So why not make your soap a beautiful and a part of your design! Here’s a few we love to use.
