Home Renovation in Plymouth MI
Penniman + Calle Ticia
Warm. Modern-classic. A bungalow that wears its history beautifully.
A Plymouth first floor remodel that strikes the perfect balance — honoring the bones of a 1950s bungalow with a handcrafted archway and rich earthy palette, while delivering a fully modern kitchen, dining banquette, and built-in dry bar designed for everyday life and real entertaining.
Old Soul. New Life.
Penniman + Calle Ticia is a love letter to the 1950s bungalow — and proof that honoring architectural history and designing for modern life aren’t competing goals. They’re the same goal, done right.
The first floor remodel delivers a refined semi-open concept that connects the kitchen, dining, and living spaces in a way that feels natural, not forced. The kitchen grounds the transformation with deep, earthy cabinetry tones, brass hardware, and matte black appliances — a palette that’s rich without being heavy, and warm without being dated.
The transition between kitchen and living area is marked by a handcrafted archway — a deliberate nod to the home’s original 1950s character that becomes one of the most talked-about details in the entire project. It’s the kind of element that could have been value-engineered out. We’re glad it wasn’t.
Beyond the archway, a custom dining banquette and built-in dry bar create tailored moments for gathering and entertaining — spaces that feel like they were always meant to be there, because in a sense, they were. The clean lines, curated textures, and effortlessly warm palette ensure that every corner of this first floor tells the same story: intentional, grounded, and exactly right.
The Kitchen
Rich, earthy cabinetry paired with brass hardware, matte black appliances, and clean white countertops — a combination that feels considered and timeless. This kitchen doesn’t follow a trend. It sets the tone for the entire floor.
The Handcrafted Archway
The transition between kitchen and living area is defined by a handcrafted archway that pays direct homage to the home’s 1950s origins. A detail that grounds the renovation in its own history — and stops visitors in their tracks every time.
The Dining Banquette + Dry Bar
Custom built and carefully positioned, the dining banquette and dry bar transform the space from a floor plan into a living experience. Places to gather, linger, and enjoy — designed as beautifully as everything else.
“Intentional, grounded, and effortlessly warm — a first floor that feels like it always looked this good.”
